Guest column: Teaching tomorrow’s business leaders to make an impact

Move In 2022

The start of a new academic year is always so exciting. As first-year students settle in with their micro-fridges and extra-long twin linens, returning students reconnect with classmates across campus and online, it’s thrilling to see our new and returning students, staff and faculty, in person again.

In the College of Business, we are especially excited about our vision that unites and energizes us all: Business for a Better World. This important idea is woven throughout every aspect of our college and takes many forms. From the research that our faculty conducts, the curriculum we offer, the inclusive environment that we foster, and the way we engage with the community, our college is dedicated to creating positive change by inspiring impactful research and preparing our students to address the world’s most pressing business problems.

Our undergraduate and graduate students are not only equipped with the most up-to-date business knowledge and how to apply it, but they also learn how to create innovative business solutions centered on the triple bottom line: people, planet and profit. With this focus, we develop graduates who are in high demand by employers. In addition, our college has been recognized globally among the most elite business schools for its focus on business for good.

Our Business for a Better World vision is grounded on our college’s core values of Access, Excellence, Impact and Community.

  • Access: We create inclusive opportunities for education, engagement and student success.
  • Excellence: We uphold high standards for ourselves, each other and our community.
  • Impact: We address societal challenges and are committed to improving the world.
  • Community: We uphold CSU’s Principles of Community: inclusion, integrity, respect, service and social justice.

Together, our Business for a Better World vision and core values provide the cornerstone for our College of Business experience at CSU. You can see them brought to life in Rockwell West in a 30-foot mural shown in the video below.

Whether you’re an on-campus or online student, a member of our faculty or staff, I hope that this fall you connect with our wonderful CSU community and are inspired by our vision: Business for a Better World.

Have a great semester!
